Best Amazon aws Status Event Calendar: AWS Summit, NYC (2018)

Performed July 16-17 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, the AWS Summit NYC was one of a series of 34 free end-user events that Amazon will be offering this year in key technology capitals. Complementing the annual re-exam: Invent examinations (held in November in Las Vegas) and having the same miniature AWS format Cupolas offers midday bootcamp training and AWS full day certification plus a second day, totally free , with executives and high-level partners full of announcements of new features and services, a comprehensive exhibitors expo and exhibitors notes, demonstrations of third party fastpitch products, led by a fully automated instructor and self-guided practical labs, feather sessions, plus continental breakfast, lunch and networking after the show.

Yes, one can cynically noted that this huge investment in end-users, community building and education is likely to be very cost effective for AWS to motivate customers to expand and develop their use of hosted cloud services. But the AWS Summit NYC, presumably a good example of what these events offer elsewhere, was also one of the best events I've attended so far this year. Like almost everything the Amazon brand carries, it offers much practical value and is easy to consume on a large scale. Here are some highlights:

Fortnite Triples
Speaking of scale, it's hard to imagine anything more than that involved in supplying battle of the royale game Fortnite, Epic Games (creators of Unreal Engine) which faces live bands 100 players on various platforms in a last position for all. Battlegrounds as the leader in its casual game kills or dies, Fortnite, hosted on the Amazon EC2, was known to be compatible between 2 and 3 million concurrent users in the first quarter of 2018 (the somewhat smaller PUBG is hosted on Azure) and revenue of $ 125 million per month.

The AWS Summit NYC titling ad, delivered by Amazon CTO Werner Vogels and Epic Platform Director Chris Dyl, is that Epic Games is expanding its use of Amazon services to create a portfolio of machine learning and analytics using the training / accommodation / production implementation of the Amazon SageMaker ML model. Artificial intelligence will be used to track and understand players' preferences, improve the player's skills match; and probably for more ambitious projects such as directing the behavior of large groups of opponents NPC (intelligent robots) real-time PVE combat (Player vs. Environment), as suggested by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney in a publication average, last year. The Fortnite team will also advance to the use of Kubernetes scale containers housed in the Amazon Elastic Container Service (EKS).

Cloud9 IDE and DevOps
AWS acquired the SF-based "Virtual IDE" start-up in Cloud9 in 2016 and, last November, introduced this fully integrated, cloud-based and multifunctional development environment for AWS users. AWS CTO Werner Vogels presented an informative introduction to Cloud9's impressive features, which are being built quickly as part of a complete infrastructure solution such as code / DevOps. Cloud9 can now consume GitHub, Amazon CodePipeline, and similar repo services; Take a downline to compile / test using the fully-managed Amazon CodeBuild build service (or Jenkins, with other workarounds), and then deploy it in many different ways, including Chef-based implementation with AWS Opswork Stacks. All of these CI / CD options can, of course, provide and manage the lifecycle of production builds on substrates and services hosted on Amazon. They can also work with basic infrastructure or the cloud; so that Cloud9 and its integrated DevOps services may turn out to be the only IDE your organization needs.

SageMaker Transmission Algorithms, Channel Synthesis
Amazon SageMaker is a hosted framework for designing, training, testing, and deploying scalable machine learning solutions that works with an expanding toolbox such as MXNet, TensorFlow, and Chainer. Unlike some Amazon services that emphasize and allow the use of commodified infrastructure, machine learning is tightly coupled with features: it requires CPU / GPUs for fast processing and often significant storage and uptime for iterative training.

Therefore, working with SageMaker used to require that data scientists devote a lot of attention tocost-benefit analysis, particularly in the training phase. AWS Summit: NYC, Dr. Matt Wood, director of Amazon Machine Learning, announced the availability of new algorithms (initially for TensorFlow, which soon other tables) allowing the transmission of training data directly from Amazon S3 storage the SageMaker models . Along with batch processing of other innovations, transmission algorithms can, in principle, reduce training costs by up to 90%, which makes SageMaker affordable to apply to new problem classes.

Wood also announced updates to various computing language services based on increasingly popular Amazon ML with call centers and contacts (including virtual contact centers, designed with Amazon Connect) such as voice recognition hosted Amazon Automatic Transcript (ASR) will soon be possible to send multi-channel audio conversations of conversation (ie with multiple speakers) through the Amazon API Transcribe receive text transcription for each sound box and then send individual transcriptions to understand Amazon to generate real-time opinion analysis for each speaker for AWS speaker.EC2 Snowball advantage in terms of cloud architecture service, one of the most impressive results for Summit AWS: NYC Snowball Edge was on a cutting edge device / network platform that it allows you to move various types of virtualized computing closer to mobile terminals or install s clients, more network services that facilitate the transport of remote data back to AWS services centralized in faster Internet speeds. Snowball Edge was released with the ability to implement functions without remote terminal devices from Lambda server.

Announced at the AWS Summit: NYC was a new feature: the ability to deploy EC2 VM workloads, which gives you much more flexibility to create different types of sophisticated and highly responsive processing. The new feature was discussed in detail by AWS evangelist Jeff Barr in a blog posted during the show. More travel Although much of the action revolved around master classes and lab practices, I also found the exhibit fascinating.

An obvious trend, appropriate for the New York market in which health and finance play such an important role, has been the presence of many external vendors of AWS equipment and security auditing technology that aims to make Web services Amazon is a secure and valuable data, including AlertLogic and Sophos. Several Opsview partners were also present, including our friends from ServiceNow and VictorOps. Opsview, of course, can monitor all of AWS's most important services, including EC2, S3 and RDS. In the meantime, if your career revolves around Amazon services or if you seriously cross with it, you should spend some time at the AWS Summit events. in your area. They are solidly produced, optimistic, super informative and of course you can not beat the price.
